Last month Garmin came out with their new Marine Cartography All-in-one mapping solution. This was an upgrade to the already enhanced mapping package you needed to buy from Garmin after purchasing one of their ECHOMAP or GPSMAP electronics.
The new Navionics Vision+ mapping looks amazing in all the marketing materials. However, there are not a lot of people posting YouTube videos using this new product on their Garmin devices.
In the Garmin discussion groups, there is a lot of interest in the product, but the price point seems to be very high, even for Garmin.
I purchased the G3 mapping last May for my Canadian Lakes and it included the Navionics maps. This year they are wanting another $300 dollars just for the relief shading on the maps. I think Garmin needs to rethink its business model on this one as they are just frustrating a lot of customers.
